Nursing Services
Nurse Practitioner – Is available every day for consultations for many minor ailments and also can offer telephone advice. The Nurse Practitioners are qualified to prescribe.
We have two Nurse Practitioners Julie Sercombe and Louise Ford. They joined the practice in July 2009 bringing a wealth of experience and are proving very popular with our patients. They also work outside of the practice providing a service within local schools.
They are Independent prescribers. If you have any minor ailment please request an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner rather than the GP. Usual conditions they treat include problems with eyes, nose, throat, ears – suspected infections (not syringing), respiratory problems, urinary tract infections e.g. cystitis, diarrhoea & vomiting, abdominal pain, skin conditions, allergies, common gynae problems e.g. thrush, abnormal discharge, Initial prescription for the contraceptive pill/contraceptive advice, common muscoskeletal problems e.g. whiplash.
Practice nurses and our health care assistant may be seen by appointment for treatment room procedures, and chronic disease management, including asthma, COPD, diabetes and BP monitoring. We also hold Women's Health clinics
District nurses provide community care. Messages for the district nurses may be left with reception from 8.30am to 4.00pm or you may leave a message on the District Nurses’ answer phone (01477 535014)
Health Visitors offer specialist advice to children until they start school, including women during and after pregnancy. Contact with the Health Visitors is through the Health Centre's main number (01477 533100 selecting option 5 then 2).
Midwives provide care before and after the birth of your baby, and may be seen by appointment at the Health Centre. You may telephone the midwives directly: Leighton 01270 612141 or Macclesfield 01625 661145/661153

Physiotherapists provide specialised treatment for all forms of orthopaedic problems, sports related injuries and other problems . This service is one a patient may self-refer into (see webpage link into Eastern Cheshire CCG website for the latest MSK self referral form).
